Lost, Stolen & Replacement Access Cards

Access cards issued by EACML are assigned to authorised individuals and form part of the city's access control system. Where an access card is lost, stolen, damaged, or no longer in the possession of the registered cardholder, it should be reported promptly to prevent unauthorised use.

Reporting a Lost or Stolen Card
Cardholders should notify EACML as soon as they become aware that their access card is missing or has been stolen. The card may be deactivated following verification, preventing it from being used to gain access to controlled areas.

Card Deactivation
Once a lost or stolen card has been reported, EACML may deactivate the card in the access control system. A deactivated card will no longer be recognised as a valid access credential at designated access points.

Replacement Cards
A replacement card may be issued following the required verification and registration process. The replacement card will be linked to the cardholder's current access record, while the previous card may remain permanently deactivated.

Damaged Cards
Where an access card is damaged, defective, or no longer readable by the access control system, the cardholder should report the issue and follow the designated replacement process. The damaged card may be required for verification before a replacement is issued.

Access During Replacement
Cardholders who require continued access while a replacement is being processed may be subject to additional verification or temporary access arrangements, where applicable. Any temporary access remains subject to EACML security requirements.

Prohibited Use
Access cards are strictly personal and must not be shared, transferred, duplicated, altered, or used by another person. A cardholder remains responsible for safeguarding their access credential and reporting any suspected unauthorised use.

Updating Access Records
Where a cardholder's personal details, employment, residency, tenancy, or other basis for access changes, the relevant records should be updated with EACML. This ensures that replacement cards and access permissions remain linked to accurate and current information.

Security and Compliance
EACML may require appropriate verification before deactivating or replacing an access card. Repeated loss, misuse, attempted duplication, or other improper use of access credentials may result in additional access controls or other applicable measures.
