Littering Policy

Eko Atlantic City is committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-managed urban environment. Littering is not permitted within the city, and all residents, visitors, businesses, contractors, and other users of the city are expected to dispose of waste responsibly and use designated waste disposal facilities.

No Littering
Litter must not be dropped, thrown, abandoned, or otherwise left in public spaces. This includes roads, walkways, landscaped areas, drains, parking areas, vacant plots, beaches, and other common areas within the city.

Items such as food packaging, plastic bottles, cans, paper, cigarette butts, and other waste must be properly disposed of rather than left in public areas.

Use Designated Waste Bins
Waste should be placed in designated bins or other approved waste collection points. Where a suitable bin is not immediately available, individuals are expected to retain their waste until it can be disposed of appropriately.

Waste must not be placed beside bins, on pavements, in drains, or in landscaped areas.

Keep Roads and Public Areas Clean
Litter left on roads and public spaces affects the appearance of the city and can obstruct drainage systems, create hazards for pedestrians and motorists, and contribute to environmental pollution.

Residents, businesses, event organisers, contractors, and other users of public spaces are responsible for ensuring that activities under their control do not result in litter being left behind.

Responsible Disposal by Businesses and Contractors
Businesses, construction companies, contractors, and service providers operating within Eko Atlantic City are expected to manage waste generated from their activities responsibly.

Construction materials, packaging, food waste, and other operational waste must not be abandoned on roadsides, public areas, vacant plots, or other unauthorised locations.

Littering After Events and Activities
Organisers of events, gatherings, commercial activities, and other temporary operations are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the areas they occupy.

All waste generated during an activity should be collected and properly disposed of at the conclusion of the activity, leaving the surrounding public areas clean and unobstructed.

Enforcement and Compliance
Littering and unauthorised waste disposal may attract enforcement action in accordance with applicable municipal regulations. Individuals, businesses, contractors, and other responsible parties may be required to remove improperly discarded waste and may be subject to applicable penalties or other enforcement measures.
